Overheard ...another day, another mass kidnap

Three weeks ago..."Boko Haram Totally Defeated"

Maj.-Gen. Rogers Nicholas, the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, says the Nigerian Army has completely defeated the Boko Haram insurgents. Nicholas stated this during the inauguration of the Nigeria-Cameroun Military Joint Mission on Saturday in Maiduguri.
He disclosed that his troops under the operation DEEP PUNCH II had on Friday dislodged and occupied the insurgents’ tactical ground “Camp Zairo”. - PM News Feb 4, 2018

Three weeks later..."Boko Haram Not Totally Defeated"
“If the operating word is ‘totally’, the answer is no obviously, but has Boko Haram been degraded? I will say yes, terribly so. - Femi Adesina, ChannelsTV Feb 26, 2018

...AND I AM LIKE: Let's overlook for now the preposterous and ridiculous proposition that an enemy that was defeated three weeks ago can brazenly snatch over a 100 students and vanish into thin air with them.

But there is a limit to which propaganda can be deployed freely where human lives are involved. To be sure, the lives of innocent school children (Chibok and Dapchi) is as much value as the lives of those peddling propaganda to score cheap political points. It's totally (yes, that word again) unacceptable for the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity to politicize this tragedy by comparing what happened in the previous administration to what has just happened. The Administration should instead focus on getting both Chibok and Dapchi girls released as soon as possible. If Mr. Adesina needs to be reminded, this government promised that Chibok style mass kidnapping of students would never happen under their watch. The rest is history.
