“My own restructuring is what I have said, we have to restructure our mentality, we have to restructure our mind, we have to restructure our understanding of Nigeria. What country do we want? And if we decide on what kind of country we want, how do we get that country? All hands on deck, how do we get inclusive, how do we get every Nigerian feeling a sense of… having a stake in the country.”

AND I AM LIKE: That's a very nebulous idea about restructuring sir. How we "get inclusive" is by restructuring so that the component units of Nigeria can own, explore and exploit their natural resources for their own benefit and pay taxes to the centre to run common services. The structure we are operating hardly gives any Nigerian a sense of having a stake as everyone from North, South, East and West cries about marginalisation 57 years after independence. How can you keep doing the same thing and expect a different result? How?

OVERHEARD ... from Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah
![]() |
| Hassan Kukah |
"When I look at our country, I feel a sense of both shame and pity not for myself but for our teeming millions who simply want to be left to do what ordinary human beings have come to take for granted elsewhere: get married, raise a family, live in peace and prepare the next generation. Is this too much the ordinary citizens of Nigeria to ask?...Those who brought education to us are in awe of our intellectual capacity and they hide their jealousy by accusing us of being loud and arrogant ...Today, we stand on the crossroads of shame and seeming despair. An energetic and brilliant generation of young Nigerians, roaring to take their place in the public stage are held back by a political class which prefers to feed its gargantuan appetite. Governance has become a massive fraud and a heinous crime scene. The easy question is to ask, how do we get out of this self-inflicted mess where we continue to feed our children yesterday’s barf?" - Speech delivered at the ordination of priests of the Catholic Church on 27th June 2017.
AND I AM LIKE: The paradox of the Nigerian situation can be mitigated if urgent steps are taken for the engagement of our young resourceful population to bring their talents and energy to galvanize critical sectors of the Nigerian Enterprise given their extraordinary feats in saner climes. They should not be allowed to wallow in the backwaters of our national life.
OVERHEARD...from Trump!
Believe it or not, the President of the United States retweeted this!
AND I AM LIKE: Obama is therefore the Sun and Trump, the Earth. The Sun is 109 times bigger than the Earth in diameter. The Sun has more energy, more intensity than the earth and without the Sun there will hardly be any living organism on Earth. Where does this analogy leave you Mr. Trump?

OVERHEARD ...in India. Goat with human face
“A strange creature has been discovered in India. The animal, whose shape resembles that of a human being, terrified a whole village.” - Fox News, August, 2017
AND I AM LIKE: The goat's facial structure, complete with curled lips is truly a freak of nature and not some visiting creature from outer space as some have alleged.
OVERHEARD ...from Punch
"Garba and his friends in the media office go about their job without requisite skills and we need to let them realise that communication for public office holders especially the President of a nation, transcends media purposes into a more robust public relations configuration with the understanding of the people at its centre. Without this, the purpose of a communications office for a person of a President’s stature is totally needless." - Niran Adedokun, Punch, August 24, 2017
AND I AM LIKE: The penchant to take the intelligence of Nigerians for granted is done with such gusto you begin to wonder...
OVERHEARD ...from Femi Adeshina
"The special adviser to Mr. President on media and publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, Tuesday said that president Muhammadu Buhari’s office at home is a replica of the regular office. He said this to clear the misinterpretation given to Mr. President’s new idea of working from the office in his house. - Vanguard, 23 Aug. 2017I AM LIKE: Oh yeah? LWKMD!

OVERHEARD ... from Aso Rock
“Following the three months period of disuse, rodents have caused a lot of damage to the furniture and the air conditioning units.”
- Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to President Mohammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity on why Buhari is working from home.
I AM LIKE: These guys are up to something...they are setting the stage for some type of voodoo governance.
