Overheard from TheGuardian UK

"They also had been warned that they (the kidnapped girls) would be brought back on Wednesday morning, according to Dapchi residents, and positioned themselves at the school they had been taken from, thinking that they would be dropped off there.

However, their kidnappers drove them into the centre of the village, close to the police station.
Neither the military nor the police attempted to apprehend the militants, who even stopped to change a tyre before leaving Dapchi, according to Mataba."

...AND I AM LIKE: Are you kidding me? Close to the Police Station...and the kidnappers even stopped to change a tyre? From the look of things they might have had the time to make tuwo shinkafa  for lunch! So much for the fight against terrorism.

Overheard from Lai: Another Lie

"The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has blamed the incessant clashes between farmers and herdsmen on environmental, rather than ethnic or religious issues, while assuring of the Federal Government’s commitment to finding a lasting solution to the clashes." - Vanguard, March 10,2018

AND I AM LIKE: Whether it is environmental or not, lives are being lost and those perpetrating this carnage are Fulani Herdsmen. They are not environmental herdsmen! To be sure, there are Igbo herdsmen, Yoruba herdsmen, Efik herdsmen who are also affected by this so-called environmental factors but they have not gone on rampage slaughtering people just to feed their cows Mr. Minister!

Overheard ...another day, another mass kidnap

Three weeks ago..."Boko Haram Totally Defeated"

Maj.-Gen. Rogers Nicholas, the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, says the Nigerian Army has completely defeated the Boko Haram insurgents. Nicholas stated this during the inauguration of the Nigeria-Cameroun Military Joint Mission on Saturday in Maiduguri.
He disclosed that his troops under the operation DEEP PUNCH II had on Friday dislodged and occupied the insurgents’ tactical ground “Camp Zairo”. - PM News Feb 4, 2018

Three weeks later..."Boko Haram Not Totally Defeated"
“If the operating word is ‘totally’, the answer is no obviously, but has Boko Haram been degraded? I will say yes, terribly so. - Femi Adesina, ChannelsTV Feb 26, 2018

...AND I AM LIKE: Let's overlook for now the preposterous and ridiculous proposition that an enemy that was defeated three weeks ago can brazenly snatch over a 100 students and vanish into thin air with them.

But there is a limit to which propaganda can be deployed freely where human lives are involved. To be sure, the lives of innocent school children (Chibok and Dapchi) is as much value as the lives of those peddling propaganda to score cheap political points. It's totally (yes, that word again) unacceptable for the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity to politicize this tragedy by comparing what happened in the previous administration to what has just happened. The Administration should instead focus on getting both Chibok and Dapchi girls released as soon as possible. If Mr. Adesina needs to be reminded, this government promised that Chibok style mass kidnapping of students would never happen under their watch. The rest is history.

OVERHEARD - from Lai Mohammed after the bomb

"We believe that Chief Obasanjo, because of his very busy schedule, may not have been fully availed of developments in the government’s efforts to revamp the economy, which was battered by the consequences of over-dependence on a commodity as well as unprecedented pillaging of the treasury."

...AND I AM LIKE: Mr. Mohammed, Chief Obasanjo like every Nigerian who eats, drinks water, pays rent, pays school fees and has to get things from the market is willy nilly "AVAILED" of hyperinflation (forget your lying stats), devaluation and the general lowering of the standard of living! Tell it to the birds!
